Design and art in Cairo at Villa Magenta
Gallotti&Radice consolidated its partnership with Villa Magenta at the events held on Sunday, Sept. 29 and Monday, Sept. 30 in Cairo with the participation of Le Lab, a contemporary art and collectible design gallery founded by Rasheed Kamel, a well-known art collector and founder. In collaboration with Silvia Gallotti, they curated an exhibition dedicated to the interdisciplinary dialogue between local and regional artists and designers that reflects Silvia Gallotti's personal aesthetic and her passion for collectible art and design. The event, titled “Through Her Eyes”, offers a rare glimpse into Silvia Gallotti's artistic vision and passion for art. “Through Her Eyes” is an eclectic living space embedded in the architectural charm of Villa Magenta, where art, collectible design and luxury design dialogue with each other. The signatures of Silvia Gallotti and Rasheed Kamel are evident in every aspect, creating a cohesive and immersive experience that embodies style and sophistication. The unique energy of each artwork stems from the different positions and perspectives of the works within the environment, shaping this extraordinary experience by creating an ongoing dialogue between different cultures that gives rise to a multifaceted and magical environment. The collection is the harmonious result of craftsmen's hands and creative minds working together to create a truly immersive experience. The exhibition will remain open to the public until Nov. 9, inviting visitors on a journey where the languages of art and craftsmanship come together.
The exhibition features an installation by Nedal Badr, conceived as an ode to Arabic writing and calligraphy that celebrates Gallotti&Radice's deep association with glass in a contemporary narrative.
Kahhal Looms and Le LAB collaborate to create a collector's edition reinterpretation of the iconic Metaphores rug, originally designed by Studio G&R for Gallotti&Radice. Georges Mohasseb for Le LAB also proposes a collector's edition of the I-Beam table, sculpted in travertine marble while maintaining a strong degree of craftsmanship and a complex expression of materials. The dialogue between Art and Design continues with works by Aliaa El Gready, Barry Iverson, Bahaa Amer, Ghadah Al Kandari, Heba Farid, Hend Adnan, Huda Lutfi, Karim El Hayawan, Khaled Hafez, Khaled Zaki, Marwan El Dewey, Mohamed Fares, Omar Chakil, Reem Osama, Samy Elias, Tessa & Tara Sakhi and furniture designed by Massimo Castagna, Pierangelo Gallotti, Pinuccio Borgonovo, Studiopepe , Carlo Colombo, Draga & Aurel and Tollgard & Castellani. The curatorship includes sculptures, engravings, portraits, and vases, inviting reflection and contemplation, focusing on Gallotti&Radice's deep knowledge of Egyptian art and culture combined with its expertise in glassworking, which has always been the company's DNA, in a contemporary and engaging narrative. The space considers art, design and architecture as one and presents a 360-degree perspective, in which all elements dialogue harmoniously and invite you to touch a curated selection of products and artworks.
